Fallen Firefighter


On 6-18-04; Racine Fire Dept sadly lost a fellow firefighter suffered from cancer. Brian Sanders passed away on 6-19-4 from
cancer. The cancer was first discovered back in May of 2003. By June of 2003, cancer spread thoughout his whole body. Brian retired from the fire dept last fall after serving 22 year's on the dept. Brian was active in all types of sporting event's such as football, baseball and other event's. Brian was 46 Y/O. Brian was married and 2 children. funeral servies will be held in Racine; viewing on Tuesday nite and the service will be on Wed. Racine Engine one will carry the casket. May Brian rest in peace; he will be missed by everyone who knew and worked with Brian. God bless him.

At 0442 hrs, Racine Fire was dispatched to the 2000 blk of Racine St. for a report of a bedroom fire. first rig on scene
reported a working fire with heavy fire showing on the A-side of the building. Firefighter battled the blaze for an hour before the fire was under control.One person was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. While fighing the fire; a cat was found in a daze that was over come by smoke. A safety officer brought the cat over to rehab and asked if rehab could give the cat oxygen and to keep an eye on the cat. After 15 minutes in rehab, the cat was back to normal and was returned back to it's owner. The cause of the fire an unattended candle. Rehab was also called. rig's on scene were;

Division 6 reports: At the 4th. Alarm, Box 1631, Fire's located on the 3rd. & 4th. floors of a 6 story brick occupied multiple dwelling. All occupants are being removed. We have numerous interior lines stretched and in operation. Primary search is still in - progress. Fire is Doubtful.

- Manchester - NH - General Alarm, 102 Spruce Street - 760 Elm Street, 2 four story blocks - Residential over Commercial spread to Hellenic Community House - A spectacular fire destroyed 3 business blocks on Elm Street across from Merrimack Common in the heart of the city, 2 million dollars damage to the stores in the 2 four story blocks and extensively damaged Kaufs Automotive store

1982 - Nashua - NH - General Alarm - address - 3 Story 12 unit apt bldg - 4 FF's injured, 25 homeless - Two firefighters were injured when a portion of the roof collapsed on them, 2 FF's injured when a motorcycle parked in the hallway exploded

1999 - Lawrence - MA - 3rd Alarm - Box 6111 - nr 110 Farnum St - 3 Story Wood Frame with 2 Story att'd

1999 - Nashua - NH - 4th Alarm - 5 Stanstead Place Kessler Farms Condos - 4 Story Condo Garage fire spread to 2/3 units
