Well, since they can't strike, do the next best thing:

BOSTON - Mayors from across the country may get an eyeful this weekend from police trying to embarrass Boston Mayor Thomas Menino as he hosts a national conference.

The Boston Police Patrolmen's Association is planning to protest its lack of a contract with the city by picketing all of Menino's events as host of the 72nd annual meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

The union has rented a 68-foot yacht and plans to cruise past the JFK Library in Dorchester while Menino and the other mayors attend a tour, reception and buffet dinner at the library Saturday night. The boar will feature a giant banner that reads: ``How Many Mayors Does it Take to Sign a Contract?'' said James Barry, the union's legislative agent.
