    Default Has Gore lost it?

WASHINGTON - Former Vice President Al Gore yesterday unleashed another verbal assault on President Bush [related, bio], comparing him to Richard Nixon and his staff to Nazi ``Brown Shirts.''

The former vice president also said the administration works with ``a network of `rapid response' digital Brown Shirts'' that pressure reporters and editors, a reference to Nazi supporters of the 1930s.

You know, ettiquette is one thing (yes, Dick should have told Pat to F' off in the Senate the other day...)

But a top political leader comparing the President a Nazi? You can't deny that inference either, if you read his latest speech and see what he accuses Bush of doing, either. Good for the goose, good for the gander, or Gore in this case.

Wasn't that many years ago "Jack booted thugs" was used to describe some of the stuff that went on under Janet Reno, and those terms got quashed because it's not nice, moreover, you don't use those terms against your fellow countrymen.

Oh well...it'll be an interesting election season that'll put the mud in mudslinging. Have we ever had an election about, well, it seems "anger" as the central idea of one of the parties?

Oh well, 2008 may actually be a good election year once this nonsense of this year's race betweent the focused-if-not-consistently-on-the-right-thing Bush and the angry waffle Kerry is done.

I've been doing a lot of reading on leadership, particularly "Leadership on the Line" by Heifetz and Linsky. There are some references there from the last elections, and about mudslinging.

Since Mr Gore's comments are of a rather personal nature, it will be interesting to see how Bush ressponds or if he does at all.

    Hmmmmmmmm.......

On a personal note though, I dont see the point of such comments, they serve no greater purpose.

It's interesting. I could be wrong, since I'm not 100% focused on the yakking going on. But it seems the Dems are attacking more on a personal level that the Repubs -- not that it's not going on both ways, just more higher level Dems seem to do it more often than vice-versa.

I'm a Republican known to vote Democratic when either the Repub is a joke or the Democrat is very good (Can you say Governor Lieberman, please? Pretty please with sugar on it?). So maybe my slightly-right-of-center leanings has me a bit blinded from it.

The Democrats weren't able to pull a compelling candidate out of the hat. I have a hard time thinking of a compelling national level Democrat actually, while there's several Republicans in the wings who are viable. Had they found someone strong and able to show leadership (Kerry's smart...and likes to waffle and sit on both sides of the fence...) this is an election they should've been able to trounce.

Instead you see them stammering around, looking at a possible fiasco in Boston, acting all angry, unable to pull ahead, and for God's sake their presumed nominee wanted a Republican for his vice-president -- what does that say about their party and even their own confidence in themselves when they court McCain for two months.

And while I don't think it's likely, could you imagine after they toyed in the press about having McCain as VP if the Republicans do an olive branch internally, and as an August surprise Cheney gives a farewell address at the Convention that'll he'll be stepping down for health reasons...and at the end introduces George & John together at once? What the heck would the Kerry campaign do for spin, "Well, yes, our, well he wasn't really ever actually asked even though Kerry talked to him seven times, well, we, um, well it really doesn't matter that the guy we wanted and thought was our best VP candidate is now the Republican nominee.." I just can't even imagine what Kerry & Company was thinking playing with such an idea that at best makes you look weak, at worse could blow up in your face.

Just looks like a train wreck of an election season coming up...now 2008...can you say McCain/Giulliani v. Edwards/Clinton for an election for the memories?

Al's old man was a bigwig and Jr inherited his clout. Plenty of Tennesseeans can't stand him either, myself included.

If he ever had it, he has most definitely lost it.

Seems it will work great in this thread too.

An open letter to Mr. Al Gore:

    Sir,
You hold no office. You make no policies. You have no influence in the political or legal actions of this nation. You lost the election, though you tried your best to supercede the Constitution of the country you once served as Vice President. You and your boss repeatedly ignored the attacks on our country and the war that was declared on this country by religeous fanatics bent on our destruction. You stood by while your boss lied, cheated and stole. You are a willing accomplice in the destruction in the fabric of our society.

The next time you feel the need to call a press conference in order to make yourself feel important, get your mug on National T.V., and so you feel you are not fogotten, please remember these words from this private citizen....

I hadn't seen this till tonight. Pretty funny stuff really considering the years of hindsight we now have on the idiot who beat him through all sorts of legal manuvers.

Gore could have gone into the Oval Office and slept for eight years and done less damage to the fabric of our society than Bush and his idiot cronies.

Until I realized that this thread was DEAD three years ago, when I read the title the first thought was:

What did Al Gore have that he could have "lost" in the first place?

    Lightbulb Well..............

Here is a direct quote from the Elder Statesman, Philosopher, Author, and Ambassador-without-Portfolio, Chief Harve Woods.

"Mudslinging is a time honored art of the political world. While distasteful to some, mudslinging serves a useful purpose at times. There are several ground rules however:

    1. Except in the throes of a bitterly contested Primary Election, DO NOT sling mud within your own party.

    2. Mud must be packaged and delivered carefully to ensure that none is left at the feet of the person who created it.

    3. Targets shall be chosen with great care, and a clear line of Fire established, in order to avoid mud striking anyone other than the intended target.

    4. Mud is best used prior to the expiration date. (Dewey throwing mud at Truman today would be a waste of time and mud)

Historians ALWAYS have the last word on Mudslingers. Fact."
