    GREATER ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE


    On Wednesday, June 30, 2004 eight companies of Firefighters, one Rescue Ambulance and two Chief Officer Command Teams under the direction of Battalion Commander Mark I. Stormes responded to a greater alarm structure fire at 4857 Melrose Avenue in the Southeast Hollywood area. First companies on scene reported a one-story 30’ x 70’ single-family dwelling converted to a restaurant with smoke showing from the attic. Firefighters using handlines confined the fire to the attic of the “Ko Kung Restaurant” and extinguished the fire in thirty-five minutes. No injuries were reported. The cause was electrical and the loss was $175,000. ($100,000 to structure and $75,000 to contents).
