I am a female firefighter in a volunteer company. I have an approaching one time interview for one avaliable paid position and want to get some advice .Is it inappropriate to visit the fire station ahead of time to try to gain information from other firefighters and if not what would be the best information to gather? I am one of five candidates getting this interview and the only woman. I want to stand apart from the other candidates by being knowledgable about the station and facilities ,but do not want to do anything to jeapordize my interview. I also do not want the guys to prejudge me and make unfavorable comments to the board that make alter their decision. I would be the first woman on the department and could use any additional advice.Thanks.
