check out this department, it seems the mayor has something against the firefighters....does a contract with a city not mean anything anymore? www.iafflocal300.org

With budget crisis' all over, this seems to be the trend. Fire just doesn't seem that important to government when they are trying to balance their budget. They have to understand that there is a cost for public safety and it is well worth it!!

This is our Brother and forum member Steamer's Department.
He and I have shared a few Guinness' and concerns about the job and where it is headed.
Steamer is an Assitant Chief who hasn't forgotten where he came from. He tells it like it is, and that does puthim into the good graces of the Administration.
The present administration hates the Fire Department.
Hang in there, Brothers. Politicians come and go, but the FD will always be there!"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."
Lt. Ray McCormack, FDNY
