Default Fire Gel's (AFG) Anybody Use them?

Is anybody carrying or using the new lines of Fire Gel's available? Also called AFG (Aqueous Fire Gel) or brand names of barricade, Thermo-Gel, etc.

My department had a demo a few weeks ago and they appear to work good and I was looking for any input from others who have used them.

I know they were used in a limited capacity in the October fires in Southern California with good results.

I would appreciate any input, opinions, etc.

    THANKS

    Pete

I have no "real time" experience, however, I was involved in the pre-production and broadcast of a "Barricade" product demonstration for "Good Morning America." Since I watched the entire process from setup, to ignition and beyond...I know there were no "smoke and mirrors" used. I admit...I was skeptical at first.

I was impressed by the products ability to dispel heat. The untreated wood/siding/shingles etc., burned freely...while the area covered with gel showed no signs of ignition. Hardly any discoloration either. However, I would also like to hear from those who have used it in the real world...in the field.

    Anyone??? Bueller? Anyone?

    Talking Bueller's At Lunch................

And I don't know if he uses a gel. I haven't had a chance to try it here in Maryland yet. I did run across a pail of "Barricade" with an eductor attached, but no one knew where it came from, I guess a salesman left a sample.

The demo we had was from Thermo-Gel. It was impressive the way it displaced the heat. Part of the demo was a coated window. They placed a torch on one side (about 8" inches away) and had us touch the backside of the window. It was barely warm...like you said pretty impressive.

We have a large Gel Demo tomorrow, so I will get more info and post it.

    THANKS
