I just checked our FEMA grant application and, lo and behold, there was the "update 1199a" link. After 4 years, this is the first time I've seen this. I hope they didn't simply make a mistake and give it to everybody. Supposedly if you get this, you've got a pretty good chance at getting some money. WOW!

Jack;
Sounds like FIRE Act will no longer be a sore subject with you.
Did you change up your strategy this time?
To what would you attribute your apparent success?
Way to go.

CR, it wasn't a sore subject. Not exactly. I just thought people got stuff that wasn't as needed as the stuff I asked for. I'll still believe it when I see a copy of the deposit slip.
Les, I checked our app yesterday morning and it wasn't there. Checked it in the early afternoon and it was. Got an e-mail telling me to update 1199a this morning, actually it was sent about 2AM according to the message. But, I already had it done. Just get me the questions and the check. I'm ready to shop. Don't tell my wife that, I hate to grocery shop but this will be different.Jack Boczek, Chief

Actually, this program is getting better all the time. I just got the famous "questions". Gee, I hope I answered them right - yes, we'll take the money, yes, we budgeted our share already, yes, we'll do NFIRS for a year, etc. My palms are getting sweaty just thinking about shopping.

Got the call from Congressman Shimkus's office at about 8:30 last night that our name is on the list for release tomorrow. NOW I believe it!
I really believe it since I got a phone call a few minutes from a salesman congratulation us. He almost found out before me.Jack Boczek, Chief

Jack;
I need six numbers to play for Saturday's lotto.
Now; you can buy equipment that your trustees don't want in THEIR station!
Congratulations. You have restored my faith in the program.
Anyone know when/if Dear Johns will/have been sent?

We're getting 20 SCBA, compressor, fill station, fill pot for truck, FETN training library on DVDs, computer, LCD projector, & a washer/extractor. This will be the only fun shopping spree I'll ever have. I hate shopping, but this will be great. Probably a lot of work so we get just what we want.

Sounds great. Let us know how your shopping goes. By the way, it was on the FEMA website today. Also, glad to see that Cahokia ($40K) and New Baden ($225K)were also awarded.

CR, ask New Baden for the dime. They got more than we did. haven't heard anything at all about the rejection letters. If it's anything like the rate at which they're making awards, it might be a while. The last 2 weeks they picked up the pace, though. I gotta go shopping.

Happy shopping Jack
Glad to see you was on the list today.
You know that when all the bids come in you will probably have enough money left over for the new horseshoe stakes behind the new firehouse
It looks like the flatlands did well on this round. It was nice to see that one of our local departments was also awarded.

Very pleased with our award, 12 turnout gear and 12 scba's. Really hope everyone else gets awards too.
BTW...if anyone is planning to attend the state fair on 8/13, come by the Fire Museum exhibit. There is going to be a really neat product unveiled to the state.
