GREATER ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE


On Thursday, July 15, 2004 twelve companies of Firefighters, three Rescue Ambulances, one EMS Battalion Captain, one Arson Unit and other support staff under the direction of Battalion Commander John Drake responded to a greater alarm structure fire at 5353 Balboa Boulevard in the Encino area. First units on scene reported a three-story medical building with fire on the roof. Firefighters using handlines confined the fire to the exterior of the elevator room on the roof of the West Valley Medical Building. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the loss is still being tabulated.
