Requirements: Individuals must meet the qualifications listed below for the Paramedic or EMT Intermediate and the following: if not already a TEMS sanctioned ALS provider, must pass the regional ALS pre-test for sanctioning before employment; have current ACLS certification; completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC); completion of the Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness course; a valid driver's license; and completion of a field training program (with release to function under general supervision) within 45 days of initial orientation. Individuals must pass a pre-employment physical examination, including a drug screening.
Paramedic: Salary Range: $38,475 - $55,789 (this salary includes the 2% increase for July 1) - Any equivalent combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school plus four years of experience as a patient care provider, two of which must have been as a certified ALS provider at the EMT-Cardiac Technician level or above, in either a volunteer or career setting, and Virginia EMT-P certification.
EMT Intermediate: Salary Range: $34,857 - $50,543 (this salary includes the 2% increase for July 1) - Any equivalent combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school plus three years of experience as a patient care provider, one of which must have been as a certified EMT-I or EMT-C, in either a volunteer or career setting, and Virginia EMT-I or EMT-C certification.
Duties: Individuals will provide advanced life support pre-hospital activities such as direct patient care, supervision and direction of ambulance crews, basic life support provider mentoring/direction, and public education on EMS.
Preferences: Pre-hospital experience in a combination service; experience working with volunteers; functioning independently as an ALS provider; and PALS certification.
Hours: Individual will work assigned 12-hour shifts, rotating between days and nights, including weekends and holidays.
