I started that year as a regular nerd and then became a drunk.
Poor career choice.

Twenty nine years old--seven years in the job and already
paranoid about the standard of acceptance of new recruits--nothing changes.
I think I got very excited 'cos they issued us with new yellow leggings--still melted when you got close to fire tho!"If you thought it was hard getting into the job--wait until you have to hang the "fire gear"up and walk away!"

Not thought off yet
I wasn't even thought of yet and neither were my older brother or sister. I don't even think my parents were married yet. Hmmm I should ask them next time I see them.

Sitting in my grandparents house on Cape Cod, 16 years old, watching it on a black-and-white TV with rabbit ear antennas (sp?).

Wher was I in 1969
Let's see, 1969? Hmmm, thats was a long time ago. However in April of 1969 I was 8 years old. My parents (going through a very messy divorce) sent me to live with my grandparents in Daytona Beach,Florida. A big change from the Bronx. When Apollo 11 launched, my grandparents where parked on the side of this huge highway leading to the space center. I actually got to see the Saturn V rise into the air. It was very cool. I returned to the Bronx a year later.

I was lying on the carpet in the living room, very close to turning 11, watching every second like it was life itself. I'd already made the choice that I wanted to work for NASA, so this was the most exciting thing I could imagine. I'll never, ever forget it or how I felt all giddy and like it had to be a dream. BTW, I did achieve my dream and just passed my 23rd anniversary working for NASA.
