Default Where were you in 1969

As I sit here watching the History Channels program on the Apollo 11 moon missions 35th anniversary, I was wondering where some of you were on this day, those of us who were around then.

I remember standing in a crowd of about 30 people watching a 6" black and white TV in a Campground on Skaha Lake in the interior of British Columbia. It is one of those times which will be forever etched in my memory. In my humble opinion, a much better time.

At the ripe age of 3 I don't think I was concerned about it, there was already a "man on the moon" and cows could jump over it. Now, so many years later, I watch the History channel in awe of what others have done before us. My daughter has a keen interest in science and space, it would not surprise me (would scare me) to see her in a space suit some time in the future...

I don't remember anything about the 60's. The 70's are somewhat clearer, though. (I was still in diapers in '69)

It is quite remarkable what mankind managed before the invention of the computer (at least as we know it today). I can't imagine going through engineering school without so much as a pocket calculator, to say nothing of actually designing and building a spacecraft.

Post Where was I in 1969

I was in a country in Southeast Asia called Vietnam. I, in all chances, was killing charlie and got wounded on July 25, 1969 as I was pulling several of my buddies from a rocket attack to a safe area, when I got hit in the thigh and shoulder. I saved the two that I was removing from additional wounding.

    That is where I was!!!

Be safe guys and go home safe after yout tour is finished.

I was only a twinkle in my paarent's eye. Mom was pregnant with my brother then. I do remember my parent's talking about it when my older brother was doing some report. Don't feel too old, it's you experienced people we need to learn from. So keep sharing those expeiences as well as having new ones.

    Default I was 11.

I was 11 years old. I remember that it was really great to get some good news, because our county in Ohio had just lost 19 people to horrible floods on July 4th. My mom worked with two of the dead, and my dad worked with one of them. I think we all needed something to make us smile, and the moon landing did that.

I can remember sitting in my parent's living room and watching it all on a black and white TV. I was one month out of High School and in my first month of the probationary period of our local FD in upstate New York.
Woodstock was setting up 10 miles away in Bethel...I just had two friends come home from Viet Nam: one in a body bag and ond in a wheel chair...life was so full of promise and so full of dread. -bob-

I too fall in to the category of "those weren't yet" in 1969.

Born in November of '70 so I suppose I became a twinkle in my daddy's eye sometime around Valentine's Day 1970 .

I was only 1 1/2, so I didn't know anything was going on at the time, I don't even remember if we had a tv or not. Now as the years progress, I am glad I can say I was born when that happen, even though I can't remember a thing...

    Take care and God Bless

    "allineedisu" was fighting Charlie.
Lots of kids crawling around in diapers.

As for me I was in high school, dating a tall good looking blonde, acing classes. Figured life was all planned.

Then I saw this road less traveled.....
Quite a round about journey from there to here, but I digress.
The moon landing was amazing and, for those of us at home, a wonder.
I wax nostalgic, but really "It was the best of times. It was the worst of times."

And remember, slide rules came in regular for nerds and round for super nerds.

Twenty nine years old--seven years in the job and already
paranoid about the standard of acceptance of new recruits--nothing changes.
I think I got very excited 'cos they issued us with new yellow leggings--still melted when you got close to fire tho!
