    Question Traditions

Hopefully we don't pass on dying young, What history lessons do our probies need to know?

The single most important tradition to pass on to everyone is simple....Everyone goes home.

Learn the history of your department and pass it along.
Learn why firetrucks are red and try to pass along the pride that the old volunteer companies had.
When you look at the pole in the station or the halligan, the red and green lights on the rig/station, your new york style helmet, or whatever. Know who invented it and why. Pass on that we are a family, not just by calling everyone "brother" but act like a family. Know that washing the rigs is as much a maintenance issue as it is a pride thing.
It is hard to describe everything, just look at your department and learn why before it is lost to history.
