Does anyone know of a Firefighter 1 class this fall. Several from my dept. are in need of it.
Preferably in the Fayette, Marion or Effingham County area.
Thanks
KJ

KJ-
There is no FF1 in Illinois. Our FFII is equivalent to everybody else's FFI. So look for a FFII class.
Check with you local community colleges. Most offer a fire science course that is taught by OSFM certified instructors; they should be able to help you.

Jay is right, no FF 1. however IFSI offers essentials 1 2 3 and 4. This is the basic stuff, great refresher classes. All of these are free, i think each class is 24hrs. Request forms at IFSI's web site.

FFII, module A is starting at Salem Fire District (Marion County) on Aug. 26, 7:00 PM. Contact Jim Cerny at 618-548-4659 for more details. Only cost is the fee for the OSFM test. books are even provided.

Jack, that is one helluva deal.
Most FFII academies run anywheres from $500-$1500.
(Although we did one for $200!! First time class. Had to make sure I knew what I was doing!!

I think they're doing it for their own guys and have invited just about anybody else that wants to take it to come along. It's nice to have an instructor on staff. Makes it a lot easier to get the training we need. I just wish they'd schedule an Instructor I class down here somewhere so I could get in it. I would really like to do that.
