A Engine accident killed one volunteer firefighter in Wickliffe, Kentucky.
The victim were responding to a grass fire caused by a man pulling a pontoon boat. His boat trailer loss a wheel, threw sparks and ignited the fire.
Barbara Bordenkircher of the Wickliffe Rural Fire Department were on the way to the fire when their truck began to swerve.
Eyewitnesses say the fire truck went off the road came back on,crossed the road, and hit a tree.
Bordenkircher was pronounced dead at the scene. A second firefighter William Stanton was flown to Lourdes Hospital.Ballard County Sheriff Todd Cooper tells NewsChannel 6 that it does not appear that speed was a factor.Eyewitnesses estimate the truck was traveling 45-50 miles per hour when it crashed.
My throughts and prayers are with the families and the Wickliffe Firefighters.
