7 Children Injured when Slide Falls at County Fair
Aug. 15, 2004
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Seven children sustained minor injuries after a gust of wind overturned a 20-foot slide at the Beaver County Fair.
The children were treated yesterday at a hospital for cuts and bruises. The wind left them scattered in a gravel parking lot where the inflatable slide was set up near Minersville in southern Utah.
The children ranged in age from two to 12. They were taken to the hospital in Beaver, about 20 miles away. Some were knocked out momentarily and all suffered scrapes, bruises and cuts.
It appeared that the most seriously injured were those who had climbed closest to the top of the slide.
The ride was intended to raise money for the Beaver High School cheerleaders.
