I'm glad to see at least were doing something right. A little extra effort payed off for our department and citizens.
ISO Improves WTFD Rating to Class 4
August 18, 2004 - The Washington Twp. Trustees were recently notified by the Insurance Services Organization that our fire suppression rating has improved from Class 5 to Class 4. This improvement should result in lower property insurance rates for residents and businesses in Washington Twp. ISO grades fire departments on several areas including alarm receipt & communications, fire apparatus, equipment & annual testing, training & response of department personnel and the community's water & hydrant system. The improvement is the result of the hard work of all the members of Washington Township Fire & Rescue Dept. and the support of our community.

Actually it turned out that the only item we didn't carry on the rigs was an oxyaceteline (sp?) torch. One of the members donated his.
I guess it pays to carry all the goofy stuff like hose jackets and hose clamps when ISO comes around

I would like to see a justification by ISO as to why they require all of the junk you never use. It would be nice if they would at least allow for another method of solving the problem if you don't have a certain piece of equipment.........Originally posted by WTFD10
