No...They are still on 2075 I think. BUT....I got my results about 3 weeks ago...I had a 100% (I am already working for EMS)....List #13. There was a letter that came about 2 weeks ago stating that they only selected up to list #3.

Vinnie B,
I am also on list 2077. Can you tell me what you know about the agility test? I am also wondering what to expect in the academy? How long do you have to be on the EMS job to take the promotional test for Firefighter? Any idea about these things?
Good luck to you and thanks in advance for the info.

Yeah...I can answer all this. I got hired last June. The agility test is EASY!....There's a stair mill event. 40lbs vest for 2.5 minutes at a rate of 60 steps per min...(if i remember right). Then the next event is a arm flex and strength test. You have to pull up on a bar that has a steel cable connected to a computer. The cable doesn't move. It determines force exerted in lbs. Then you do a "peddle machine". While on your knees you turn what looks like a bike thats up-side-down. There is a force of 50 lbs on the thing and you have to peddle real fast for I think 2 minutes. Then there is a Leg press which is the same as the arm test. The test is very easy. Sorry to say but look at some of the people on EMS...if they can do it...anyone can. The Academy is 8 weeks of cake....as far as...its nothing like the FDNY Fire Academy. They don't scream or yell...sometimes you do push ups...but its nothing really to stress about. The Academic part is REALLY GOOD. You recert in CPR and as an EMT. There is a week of EVOC, a week of Operations, and a week of field rotations (you are assigned to a Battalion for a week and practice your skills). Then there is the Final exam and graduation. At the Academy you are taught how to be an FDNY/EMS EMT. The training is really great. They teach you well above what is taught anywere else in the state. 1 day before graduation you get assigned to one of the 6 Divisions or to Communications. You then meet with the Division Chief and they assign you to a station....meaning....if you get assigned to Division 2...the bronx...you can be assigned to either the 15th, 20th, 3rd..etc Battalions....
For the promotionals....You HAVE to be "civil service"...ie the E&E test for 2077. Once you have the CS status you can take the test. You can be CS for 1 day and be eligible to take the promotional, but just a note...there are ALOT of "EMS haters" in suppression (even more in EMS...self haters)...Once you become a firefighter you have 1 stike against you because you are a probie....if you came from EMS then you have 2 strikes...and if you came from PD....you have 3.

FDNY*EMS List 2077
Vinnie B.
Your right about NYPD job IT SUCKS !!!!!!!!Eight years after taking control of the City's EMS the Fire Dept.is beginning to knit together its fire & Emergency Medical operations in the ways that could have fire commanders taking on EMS administive duties. The changes are beginning at the top with the new Acting Chief of EMS Chief John Peruggia who was appointed last week. The Ultimate goal is for Fire,EMS & Police working together & having closer relationship.

FDNY EMS
Vinnie B,
How long did it take for you to get on once you got your list number?
Is the hiring quick? Or is it like the fire department where you could pretty much wait forever?
Have you heard when list 2077 will be out? Do you think that November is a realistic time?
Thanks for the info.

FDNY EMS CANCELLED
I picked up a copy of The Chief today as well. It says that the posting has been cancelled. Does anyone have any information on this? I applied under civil service exam 2077. Does this mean my list is cancelled and they aren't processing the paperwork. What about my $35 that may get me no where? How does this work????????

HA!...You just "donated" your $35! If a list is canxd....forget it...you'll have to wait to the next one....But that doesn't mean you can't get hired....EMS hires provisionals....then you get Civil Service Status later,

FDNY EMS Update
I called citywide services today to inquire about List 2077 for EMS EMTs. They told me that the list has not been cancelled. List 4029 that was stated to come out on Sept. 1st was the list that has been cancelled. So if you applied for 4029 you will be out of luck. However 2077 is still valid at this time.
Good news for those of us on the list

FDNY*EMS
Today(Sep.09.04) Daily News
The city is taking the wrecking ball to a state-of-the-art ambulance station built just four years ago in Harlem for $3.2 million - in the name of better health.
City officials said yesterday that FDNY Medical Service Station 16 at 510 Lenox Ave. will be demolished next year to make way for a planned $225 million expansion of Harlem Hospital.
Eventually, a bigger, better EMS station - at an extra cost to taxpayers of $4.2 million - will be built within the expanded Harlem Hospital campus.
Health care advocates said rebuilding a perfectly good ambulance station was a tragic waste of scarce public health dollars.
But city officials disagreed.
"It's a good thing," said Kate McGrath, a spokeswoman for the city Health and Hospitals Corp., which runs Harlem Hospital. "We're responding to the present needs of the community."
When then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani cut the ribbon on the 6,000-square-foot facility in 2000, he described it as on "the cutting edge of EMS station technology."
But different mayors have different priorities. Giuliani, never a big fan of HHC hospitals, was eager to prove he could take over EMS services and improve ambulance response times.
Mayor Bloomberg, by contrast, has worked hard to build up the city's public hospitals, and Giuliani's old ambulance station goes against his plans to expand Harlem Hospital by 150,000 square feet, officials said.
FDNY officials stressed that although Battalion 16 would have to move to temporary quarters while its new facility was built, there would be no lapse in EMS service to the neighborhood
