Federal Firefighter LODD
BEAUFORT- A Marine Corps Firefighter from the USMC Air Corps Station Crash/Fire Rescue died late Monday night while operating as a ready response crew on the base's flight line.
Robert "Bobby" M. Weber Jr., 23 of Eagle Ridge, Tennessee, was riding rescue man position when he was stricken.
He was quickly attended to by his co-workers who utilized CPR as well as an AED. He was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital where he pronounced dead by emergency room doctors.
Corporal Weber had been in the USMC for a little over 3 years when the tragic event occurred.
A memorial service was held at the Marine Corps Air Station's Chapel on August 19, 2004. Several Beaufort County Fire Departments attended to pay their respects. Those involved the Marine Corps Air Station Structural Fire Division, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Fire Department, Beaufort Fire Department, Burton Fire Department, and the Lady’s Island St. Helena Fire Department.
Firefighter Weber is survived by his wife, Amber, his daughter Scarlett and his Father Robert M. Weber Sr.
