Hi guys, excuse my Australian naivety but having just looked through the pierce website and seen in the pumpers section, under new deliveries, a supposed new pierce lance pumper with what looks to me to be an open cab at the rear, does anyone know or have any idea if this is indeed a new pumper or a re-furb, and if it's new do they know why it has been allowed to have an open cab, from what I understood from these forums and other fire service papers from America that under NFPA regulations any appliance purchased new must have all crew riding in a fully enclosed cab? If its a re-furb, what rules apply to that?
Thanks in advance
Darren

That's an older engine that they've refurbed. I think all apparatus built prior to sometime between 1989 and 1991 are exempt from the regulation.
