At around 1441 hrs; Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the 2100 blk of 91st St for a report of smoke coming from a business. First rig on scene of a strip mall reported light smoke coming from a vacant laundry mat. Command requested a MABAS BOX. The fire was contained to the laundry mat. Rehab was also called to the scene. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Dept's on scene were;

MULTI-PATIENT TRAFFIC COLLISION:


On Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 0716 Hours (7:16 AM PDT), two Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, seven LAFD Rescue Ambulances and one EMS Battalion Captain under the direction of 14th Battalion Commander Rodney Wilmot responded to a multi-patient traffic collision near the 13100 block of Sheldon Street in Arleta. The first Company arrived quickly to discover a solo passenger vehicle which had apparently left the southbound lanes of State Route 170, sliding down a gentle slop covered with iceplant before breaking through a fence and coming rest on its left side on Sheldon Street. According to witnesses, eight patients, some unrestrained, were in the car at the time of impact. The three children and five adults, sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical, yet none were trapped. Receiving facilities included Childrenís Hospital, Holy Cross Medical Center, Kaiser Panorama and Pacifica Hospital of the Valley. The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
