I see their plan is working.
Make the victim very paranoid, and then after a while when nothing happens, they become complacent....
Then....
STRIKE!

Honestly, they may just be a crew that doesn't care very much. There are crews like that. I wouldn't worry about it too much."Captain 1 to control, retone this as a structure and notify the fire chief...."
Safety is no accident.

They are probably just geting the feel for you, most crews want to know how you will react to certain things before they try messing with you too much. Once they know you arnt going to freak out then that is normaly when they strike. Just remember that in this line of work if they DONT pick on you that means they dont like you

Don't worry, they are just making plans on how they can kill you in your sleep. My advice, don't sleep. Stay up and watch each and every one of them so they don't make a move on ya. Be afraid, be very afraid.
Seriously, I'm sure they are making plans as I write this. I think they are just "feeling you out" to see what your reaction would be to different things. I know I would be watching you to see if your making an effort to prove yourself. Like Fullyinvolved said, if they don't like you they wouldn't pick on you.
Patience young grasshopper, time will tell when you are ripe for the ripping!
Keep your head down and your powder dry.
PS- congrats on your entrance to the fire service. Make it a good, long lasting one and make sure you retire with all your parts and faculties.

I cant believe this...
Backstep131- You make me want to ring your neck. Why?
You are a new, probabtionary Firefighter. YOU DO NOT
CARE ABOUT BEING HAZED RIGHT NOW OR WHEN! What you
should care about-
-Studying the SOPs/SOGs, IFSTA, maps, etc.
-Working on your skills from hose to EMS to
WMD.
-Keeping your mouth shut and ears open. And you
better not be watching any TV. And answering
the phone.
-Looking good on calls (Emergency/non-emergency)
-Keeping the station clean.
-Working out and keeping in shape.
Dont worry about trying to be liked, gettting hazed
or when. Because you are too busy playing the rookie
game. THEY WILL COME TO YOU WHEN THEY ARE READY.
Look sharp now and stay out of the politics and BS.

I gotta agree with Bou on that one. There are more important things to worry about.

Welcome abord 131, hope you have a healthy rewarding career. I was in the firehouse two months(back in '81)and after comming back from a run I couldn't find my shoes.I looked in the oven, freezer, basement, all over. For some reason I looked up and saw them nailed to the ceiling.I got a laugh out of it myself. After that they let me take the nozzle, sometimes.
Lots of luck.Watch the senior guys at fires and learn from them.At the firehouse ask why they did some things certain ways. Step up and offer to give a hand when someone's doing something both on the fireground and in the firehouse, don't be a slacker. Listen to your officer. On the fireground there's no time to explain what's going on and why things are done.Later you can talk about what went on,and should because a lot can be learned around the dinner table. Also, be a good relief to the off going crew. By me a good relief is being in about a half hour before change of shift.

Screw waiting for them to attack you. Be aggressive, go attack them! Stretch a line in the kitchen and call em down for dinner or breakfast. Then open up as soon as the suckers come through the door. They'll respect that you're a go getter and aren't afraid of anything. Trust me.

are on probation (at will employee) and they can drop you
for any reason. Most likely, you will not be able to sue
either.
Also consider this, you are trying to establish a good
reputation, not trying to repair it for the rest of your
career.

OMG ROTFLMFAO!!!!
Ok wait a second. I have to catch my breath and clean up the water I just shot out of my nose.
Although I would pay good money to have a ring side seat to this event, I wouldn't want you to lose your job either.
Now go clean the toilets rook. What are you doing using the computer? I don't care if it is your personal time. Did you get permisson from your CO?
Seriously though. Welcome and good luck.
Didn't I say to clean those toilets?
Stay alert and be safe.

I've been on about two months in my dept, and they mess with me all the time. LOL! Sometimes it's not a bad thing you know? Although they do say that if they don't mess with you they don't like you, but maybe they are plotting to get you when you least expect it. All you can worry about is doing your training, having your skills down, learning everything on the Engine/Rescue, and having a good attitude and you will be alright.
