Webteam,
A couple questions about this new service (which I already think is very cool):
Is this new online training part of the Member's Zone or will have to pay for it seperate? If seperate, What is the price range going to be? Will it be by subscription only or can individual courses be purchased?
When you say it is "live" does that mean real time streaming video or is it pre-recorded so it can be watched at any time?
Thanks

Re: New Online Training
Moe, you are on the ball today!! Excellent questions. This could come in handy for a lot of departments who have problems with people making their training sessions/drills. If you miss a drill, you make it up with one of these that applies....Originally posted by WTFD10

And another way to look at it is, when are you going to get Chief Goldfeder or Chief Salka to come and teach a class to your department?Originally posted by firenresq77

Great questions.
Actually we're going to try a few different options and see what works best since this is all new. Some will be totally free, some will be sponsored (meaning there would be a sponsor slide in the presentation, etc.), others may be pay-per-view (minimal charge of a few dollars or a fee for an entire series ala. Univ of Extrication) with discounts for members, and some may in fact be MembersZone subscriber only.
But right now we're just expecting the first few will be completely sponsored so you'll just sign up and enjoy the training! The long term evoluation of this could be tied-in to our conferences where you can get the presentation online followed by hands-on at the show, or even continuing education in the future. Some will also have graded questions at the end, so like a 'test' after a drill, the participant can print out a certificate that confirms they watched the entire presentation.
While there will certainly be seminars which apply to a very specific group, we're expecting the majority of presentations will be every day tactics, innovations and ideas that can impact the largest number of first responders.
There is no video with this first series. Its all a power point presentation with moderated audio by the presenter, just like they would at a training seminar. Some will actually be 'live' and allow for real-time moderated questions during the last part of the webcast, and others will be pre-recorded but offer folks the chance to submit questions which will be answered within a few days by the presenter (the top 20 questions or so) on the landing page of the web conference.
All conferences will be archived, so even if you miss the live one, you can always come back and view it at your convenience.
Thanks
