    Default DC Fire

I was in Washington DC this past weekend and I saw an engine number 196. It was at the corner of 6th and Maryland NE. I went to several diferent websites to find this engines quarters but no engine numbers I saw on the web are 3 digits. Is this a reserve piece?

Yeah that's all it is. At my house we're running Engine 124 and Truck 385 where it's usually Engine 6 and Truck 4. They're the serial numbers of the respective pieces of those reserves. We used to have magnetic overlays with our numbers on them for reserves but they don't stick to the metal we have now days.

Yep, more than likely. I think they now number Reserve Apparatus with three digits.

    Question

Was it a DCFD pumper? It could have been a spare unit.

Go to http://www.dcfd.com and ask the question on their page.

    Good Luck.

196 isn't a Truck. It's more than likely 10 Engine from the address you mentioned.

    No, I think it's a spare.

(Pretty funny when you look at the posting times...all within a minute or so. You guys must have all been typing replies at the same time. This brings up the question: Do great minds think alike or do fools seldom differ? )
