Anyone know if a turnout gear can be dyed. We have a set of new turn out gear that we got from another department that is a light red color. We would like to have it dyed black and have our current trim pattern added to the gear. Anyone know anything about this?

I'd definitely check with the manufacturer before attempting anything like that. I've never heard of it being done "aftermarket." The cleaning and care requirements are pretty specific, and a dye could potentially damage the fire resistance of the fabric.
Also, some FR materials don't hold dye very well, which is why some are left in their natural color and others fade more quickly.Chris Gaylord

Oh I understand this completley. I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of doing so. We have contacted the manufacture and are waiting to see what their reply is.
