Feb. 2004 - Receive Dear John Letter
Sept. 9, 2004 - Receive call from Senator Lugar's office - Seems like they had some left over money and we were getting OVER $147,000.00 for things like turn out gear, extrication and rescue equipment, new SCBA's, hose tester, radios, training software and computers. (Sorry, no dedicated exercise equipment this time)
517 days after submission, we win.
REMEMBER - NEVER GIVE UP ! ! ! ! !

That's great news
As you said don't ever give up. My question did you apply for the same thing this year? I hope you went for something else. Congrats on the grant and get ready to go shopping!!!

As with most small departments, there are only a few that are willing to do all of the "non-firefighting related" work, and after 25 years of service, the last 3 dealing with small town goverment as President of the Board of Directors, I decided I had had enought, so I resigned at the end of last year. The new officers did not put forth the effort to apply for anything this year so I guess that is more for everyone else.
Guess I also need to change the tag line at the end of my posts.
