    Thumbs up

Actually... that shows the Spirit of Oklahoma being lettered up as Rescue 6. In the other threads a couple of us were speculating that it was the Mack/General Safety rig being used, not the Freightlineer/LaFrance.

So the Spirit of Oklahoma it is! Very cool.

It was no speculation. I believe a couple of the news releases I saw about Rescue 6 stated that the Mack/General Safety rig was picked.

My understanding was the Rescue Six was put in service during the RNC as a temporary company. That may have changed, but I was lead to believe it was being staffed by personnel from the SOC on a detail basis.

From a reliable sourceat least I think so )

Rescue 6 was put in service on Aug 2nd and will remain in service thru the elections. A second colapse unit was put in service with them. Their response area is river to river, from the Battery to 23rd street. The company is being manned with detailed members from the other rescues.

Spoke with a friend the other day who works in SOC...Rescue 6 will remain operational covering the lower half of Manhattan until year end using SOC members detailed from squad & rescue co's...while lots of people would love to see another FDNY rescue co. established, it appears that this company will be "disbanded" after the new year...but who knows.....stranger things have happened!!!

On a side note, the ribbing has already started...Rescue 6 members have created a co. T-shirt that says "Rescue 6 - because ONE just isn't enough"... ...gotta love it...even a temporary co. can break b***s....

    Just my 2 cents...Stay Safe...

i was thinking about getting that shirt! But still its a shame that they can start up a whole new company, and it sounds like r6 has some sort of terrorism specility to it then take it down not soon after. Mabye it will prove its worth and get to stay and its own house.

I heard the same, It was going to be a trial basis until the first of the year, then they were going to try and push it through for good, I think they were calling it "six in the city"
