This may be an old rehashed question, but how much and what size hose is carried on LAFD crosslays. I understand that these are not plumbed and that they pull off what they need and connect it to the pump.

I was suprised to see mention of our agency under the heading of "apparatus innovation". We certainly don't consider ourselves to be leading edge - but simply doing what we know to be best for the municipality we serve. It is essential to understand that we in no way recommend those serving other communities emulate our policies, procedures or technical specifications. Those who know our Department, realize we'd much rather talk about Firefighters and Fire Prevention than Fire Engines and Fire Trucks.

That much said... and to answer a specific question:
To address the unique needs of our City, the crosslays in Los Angeles Fire Department triple-combination pumpers (Engine Companies) current hold:
500' of 1" hose
400' of 1.5" hose
500' of 1.75" hose
None of this hose is preplumbed or preconnected.
