*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

LOS ANGELES, CA:
GREATER ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE:

On Thursday, September 30, 2004 at 1710 Hours (5:10 PM PDT), nine Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, three LAFD Rescue Ambulances, one EMS Battalion Captain and two Chief Officer Command Teams under the direction of 12th Battalion Commander Jack Wise responded to a Greater Alarm Structure Fire at 8750 North Kester Avenue in Panorama City. The first Company arrived quickly to report heavy fire showing from the garage of a two-story condominium. Firefighters swiftly extended handlines to do battle with the flames, which engulfed one of two vehicles and had begun to extend vertically within a wall to the dwelling above. According to witnesses, an adult male resident was working on one of the two small pickup trucks in the garage when fire suddenly erupted. Collaborative strategy and the adroit use of an Infrared Imaging Camera allowed Firefighters to limit the fireís spread and extinguish the flames in just 23 minutes. The male resident, who sustained second-degree burns to his left hand as he fled the fire, was treated and transported by LAFD Paramedics to Mission Community Hospital in fair condition. Loss from the fire is estimated at $40,000 ($30,000 structure & $10,000 contents). The cause of this blaze is categorized as accidental, and is attributed to a gasoline spill during vehicle repair.

APSN was founded by true emergency professionals that are more than just scanner listeners. We specialize in notifying you about major fire and police events as they happen around the entire State of Arizona. Our professional staff knows what news is, and we do not send minor, non newsworthy events. All television, talk radio & newspapers in Phoenix currently use APSN. When you receive an alert from APSN, you will want to know what is happening! Why wait for the evening news when you can have the news, as it happens, delivered directly to your pager or email address! How do we notify you? That is your option. Although alpha numeric pagers have proven to be the fastest form of notification, we can notify any email address that you may have. That means we can send alerts to your PDA, 2-Way pager, cell phone, or personal email.

For paging groups around the country, we use the FNNM national system for multiple alarm or newsworthy incidents. We prefer to receive incidents via SNPP but can receive via dial up modem.
