Default Here's to a good friend....

Yes, I am a buff and I owned a Dalmatian named Four-0. He passed on this morning. For 15 years he was a good friend.
Four-0 over the years has won best show dog at shows all over NY. He marched in many a parade, even St. Patrick's Day in New York. He leadoff the 101 Dalmatian Parade on Long Island. He even took in a couple of jobs on the Westside of Manhattan. He was a protector for my wife and kid's while I was at work and brought great joy to all that know him. He will be missed by all.
    Thought I should share that.

    Sorry for your loss brother.

My dad just lost his dog last week. He had her for 14 years. This has helped him a little. Maybe it will help you and your family:

Your experiences here brings memory of my friend Smokey growing up. I'd had him for 12 years, more than half of my life at the time I had to put him to sleep because of illness. It was the hardest thing I'd ever done, and it's still tough thinking about it again after a number of years. I've never believed animals are "just pets," because we grow to love them incredibly. Good luck dealing with the passing of your loved one.

Ray... accept my condolences on the loss of Four-O. I have been there (my "bestest buddy", a Cocker Spaniel named Toby had to be euthanized the day I got promoted to Captain) and it's not easy.

We had Toby cremated and planted a Roses of Sharon bush with his ashes in his honor.

Cherish Four-O's memory, and remember that he is with you always.

Sorry to hear, Ray. I know you will miss Four-O, just as I have missed my dalmatian, that we had to put down just over a year ago.

You will be sad; I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand,
For this day more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stands the test.
We've had so many happy years

Would you want me to suffer?
So when that time comes let me go.

But stay with me until the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

A dog really is man's best friend. It's hard to cope with the loss of a pet, because they really are members of the family..

Our little dog is almost 10, she is cocker/lab mix we got from the pound. Recently she had to go get her ACL repaired, and you just kinda wonder how many more years you are goona have with the dog. Ray Four-0 must have been a wonderful pet and family friend, as others have said he will be responding with you always.
