    How many typically apply?
How difficult is it to become part of the LAFD?

    FORTff asked:

    How many typically apply?

I don't happen to track that statistic. My focus is solely on attracting the best of the best. Such exceptional candidates are not at all worried about others, for they know full well that the only real challenge to joining any Fire Department is the man or woman who stares back at them in the mirror.

How difficult is it to become part of the LAFD?

Tens of thousands have done it, and they don't wear a red cape or have big "S" on their chest . If you truly have what it takes, please consider making the Los Angeles Fire Department your life's work. Complete information can be found on-line at:

    http://www.lafd.org/join

And a footnote to those lurking...

If when you get hired is more important than where, the LAFD is clearly not the agency for you.

    Best Wishes,

    Brian

    Question:

If I apply now, how long do I have to take/submit my CPAT cetification?

Does it have to be/is it better from a California testing site, or can any CPAT do?

    Thanks for your assistance!

The rare question that is not clearly answered here:

    http://www.lacity.org/PER/safety.htm

...can be submitted via e-mail or to the telephone number that appears at the bottom of that page.

    Default CPAT

If you do not currently had a valid CPAT card, you need to sign up to complete a CPAT ASAP to be accepted to go to the written test. You can check out a posting on www.firecareers.com bulletin board on CPAT information here http://www.firecareers.com/viewmessa...=11&Topic=4646 for locations where you can get certified. There is no charge to log on and ask questions if you have not already done so.
