    Default Irish Fire Firefighter's Association

For some time now, I have been pondering an idea in my head.

I have been thinking about starting an association of Irish firefighters. I don't mean pure Irish (ie born in Ireland), but I would like to have firefighters who share an Irish heritage like me in the organization. I was thinking of calling it the Irish Fire Fighter's Association.

The group would be to promote Irish pride and heritage, as well as promote the brotherhood of firefighters in a positive light. It would be a lot like how the IACOJ promotes fellowship of leather lovers and FOOLS alike.

My question is this. Does anyone know of any organization that either uses this name and or has the same ideals as my proposal does? I do not want to take credit for anything that already exists or take credit for anything else of the like.

My dept and many others have what is called an Emerald Society. This is for all those members with Irish blood in them.

    Talking Mick's

    You know...

While it's true the Irish did invent the toilet seat, it took the English to put a hole in it!!!

Just kidding of course.. Good to see people proud of their heritage (even if they are Irish)

I've heard of the different Emerald Societies throughout the country. I like what they do and what they stand for. But wouldn't it be nice to bring Irish firefighters from all over the world together under one banner?

They already are, it's called the Emerald Society. You can contact the parent Organization and start your own Chapter if you like. They don't care if you are career, volunteer, POC or whatever, as long as you have Irish Blood and Fight Fires....Heck, I don't even think you have to have Irish Blood, I think you just have to repsect the culture.

Really FF1219, does there need to be another Ethnic Firefighter Group?

Why not? I know some may say its not right to exclude others but I'm not being a blatant racist or anything. All you have to do is be able to trace your heritage back to Ireland somehow.
