    Default Leftover Funds

Is everyone else being told that leftover funds from different areas of your grant cannot be used until all items are recieved? For example we were awarded 18,000 for 15 sets of turnout gear (just coats and pants) and we recieved a quote for about 15,000. We were told that we cannot buy extra sets of turnout gear at this time with the extra 3,000 but rather that after our original 15 sets are recieved, we can then put in a request to buy a few more. Now I know that other departments have used the spare funds up with the initial purchase. Is any one else being told not to buy more than the amount stated in the grant?

    Thanks

First of all, who is telling you this? If it's FEMA, then they're right. If it's your fearless leaders (like ours are telling me), then ask FEMA and you'll know for sure. I haven't asked yet, but it's on the list of things to do.
