FIRE Act grants 2 years in a row!!

Well it became official 2 weeks ago but I'm just now getting around to posting it. The Farina Fire Protection District has recieved a FIRE Act grant for the 2nd year in a row. Last year the grant was for over $115K ofr new turnouts, SCBA, Cascade and Compressor, Radios and misc. other gear. This year it's $45K for a new chassis for our tanker.

The chassis is replacing a 1979 Ford that in a previous life was a GRAIN TRUCK!! With just over 95000 miles it's about time to repace the 5-speed, dual speed rear axle, gas motor truck.

BTW that was a LONG month between getting the letter from FEMA asking for matching funds and actually getting approval.

We haven't gotten a Dear John, but we haven't been awarded either.
Anyone know if there are to be anymore Dear Johns sent out or do we actually have a shot this year?

I agree about the grant. We haven't heard anything yet and it's killing me. I try not to check the app every day but can't help myself. I even crunched all of the vehicle awards today to see how much is left. Actually quite a bit. Not even half done if they're giving out 250 million.

Congratulations on your chassis Jeremy! Let me know when you get it and I'll stop in next time I'm up that way and take a looksee.

Sorry to hear about the Dear John lilyogi. I'm really surprised that we were able to get another grant. Not that I'm complaining, with our meager $45000/yr budget there's no way that we would be able to get this equipment.

We got our dear John letter a month ago for the '04 grants but we did successfully get awards in the two previous years. As a matter of fact on Saturday we took delivery of our brand new 3000 gal 500 gpm pump peterbuilt Tanker to replace our milk truck version that was 20 yrs old 222,000 miles with a rotten frame. So getting a Dear John this year is not a big of a blow. Really could have used new bunker gear though. Oh well there is always next year. Good luck to those that are still in Limbo.

we got ours a while back, no new tanker for us. last yr we got new bunkers (30 sets), new ISI packs (10 packs and another 7 or 8 bottles i believe), bigger cascade, extrication gloves, AJAX air hammer (i think), and a TIC is till in limbo. You mean Tampico finally didnt get a grant? You have been topic of convo many a time here on how lucky u are for the pipeline.
