Default Honorary Flatlander Status for RspctFrmCalgary

Maam, if you would like to join our esteemed group, simply find yourself a sponsor and we'll be happy to put it to a vote. If I remember (?) right, that 's the way we do it.

    Default Easy choice

I will sponsor her. Hell, she knows more about the Illinois forum then most Illinois people do.

Sounds like she's on her way.
I think the reference Pfire made in another thread about having to actually set foot in Illinois was later rescinded. If not, I would entertain a motion from all real flatlanders to lift that requirement in the case of RspctFrmCalgary. Anyone like to make that motion, someone make a second and then we'll take a vote.

Although I'm not sure that ever was rescinded I was going to suggest that it be waived in this case, however you beat me to it Jack as I was gone instructing all day.

Sheri is a regular contributor to these forums. She genuinely cares about each individual and goes out of her way to help in anyway that she can. She gives much of herself to the Crusty site on it's admin side and with contributions to the content. As everyone knows, it is generally Sheri who posts birthdays and makes sure that each person is acknowledged on their day (whether they want to be or not).

Like many others she is not in a position to actually "set foot" on Illinois soil and I don't feel that this should hold her back from Honorary Flatlander status. BUT that in itself is dependant upon what YOU, who truly are flatlanders vote.

If I could vote, (which according to the "rules" I can't) I would vote YES, on Bill 41-Grant Sheri Honorary Flatlander Status
To the world you might be one person, but to one person you just might be the world.

    Red face Oh My!

Back when this first happened, to tell you the truth, I was hurt and got my nose out of joint, even though I tried to tell myself that it was only the internet, although I believed I had met some great people and made some genuine friendships. Wayne and I were trespassers who, after time, were accepted and invited to continue contributing to the Illinois forum. After Wayne was given honorary Flatlander status there was some talk about it being bestowed upon me as well. I didn't pursue it because the whole subject suddenly began to cause strife among some Flatlanders. Which caused the rules to be changed. In order to become an honorary Flatlander one now needed three sponsors and to have at some point in time been to Illinois, which I had not been. So I hid my hurt from everyone and let it go.

    Mikey: Thanks, I'm honored!

Jack: This is the first I've heard that some of those requirements had been rescinded. Thank you for the offer, as it will likely be some years before I can afford to take a trip anywhere, since forming these friendships it has been at the back of my mind that any trip I do take would be planned with a stopover in Illinois. Guess we'll see if anyone else agrees with your motion.

Art: Bugger! Maybe I'll have to take your name off my list of crusties who I want to meet in person. It WAS at the top of the list! Brat!

A motion has been made to not require RspctFrmCalgary to actually have set foot on Illinois land in order to be named an Honorary Flatlander. Is there a second?
This vote will not make her a flatlander, only remove the requirement above. We'll have to take another vote later.

Bunnie, I don't think you've been around here long enough to be a smart alec. NO, I don't have any dirt laying around from our little project. Maybe Jay or somebody else can send her some of theirs.

    HELLOOOOOOO!
    Is this thing on?
While we're at it, are there any other "tourists" out there looking for honorary status?

I am all for allowing Sherri flatlander status. She has more posts on here than most of the flatlanders do. I think the president is headed in the right direction.

Bunny you beat me to it....as I was reading through the posts my thoughts were the same as yours. Go out and UPS some Illinois dirt for Sherri to put her foot in.

I would also welcome any other interloper that could get all the bugs out of my home computer so I can get on there instead of going to the firehouse.

And, Sheri, NO POLITICKING while the elections are going on. You might say something that would influence votes and we'd hate to have that happen. Does look like you're in by a landslide anyway.

Just telling the truth, Jack. My life sucks right now. Yesterday I could give a flying f**k about this whole thing LOL. But then my friends say all these nice things about me and that means a lot to me, so I acknowledged it. Besides, I could swear bribes were offered by the last candidate
