Story & pic from www.kentland33.com
November 16, 2004 - A pretty lazy afternoon was broken by excited knocks at the rear door to the firehouse. The workers that were welding on the tower to the rear of the firehouse pointed skyward. Much to our astonishment fire was shooting from the sides and top of the 100 foot cell tower to the rear of the firehouse. Engine 331 and Engine 332 were out on medical locals so the Tower pulled to the rear of the firehouse to set up. The Engines cleared their calls and responded back to the station as Tower 33 was repositioning due to the tower swaying and bending near the top. After all power was cut, the Tower opened up to darken the fire down. This took almost two hours to extinguish the fire inside the tower. Almost after four hours of drowning the tower it was turned over to the cell companies. Volunteer Chief 33 (Riley) was the Incident Commander.
They have more pics on their website.
