Today is one of those day's I'm glad I'm retired. We got out first snow of the season and you can't see two blocks. Roads are slick as I would expect.
The kids are running multiple calls for the idiots that think the pavement is still dry and bare. I am sitting in my warm office.
How great it is. Happens every year with the first snow.
Stay safe,
Pete

Here Too...................
Know the feeling Pete. Happens here as well. Folks buy big SUVs so they can slide off the road with all 4 wheels spinning. Seen a lot of Snow tires in my life, never seen an Ice Tire though. (Studs don't count, they were outlawed in one season) But as long as they let idiots drive, Hospitals, Body Shops, and Fire/Rescue will have work to do.

We're lucky so far. We got a little bit of snow / freezing rain last night, no major emergencies.
Heard a couple of wires-down calls, and we had an oddball call last night. A "large amount" of forest on fire...In the middle of a snow / rain storm.
That was rather interesting to hear..who woulda' thunk it?

I remember those. My dad had 2 sets of tires for both cars....studded and regular. Every fall and spring, he would load the tires in the car and take them down to be mounted.Studs don't count, they were outlawed in one season

Oh crap!
I hope nobody down here heard the word ICE. (ARHANEY can probably testify to this)There will be no bread or milk to be found within 100 sq. miles, they will close all the schools, board up the windows and roll up the sidewalks. Oh yeah, the daredevils will come out of the woodwork and pile up like cordwood.

Boy are you right about that, spearsm.....even the mention (much less actual accumulation) of snow sends everyone to the store! I remember about 5 years ago when it came a small ice storm that we had vehicles stacked up like cord wood on one end of an overpass on Hwy 45. I hope we miss all of that this year,

Never thought we would see snow again!
Well, it finally happened. We've got one inch of snow on the ground and more falling here in northwest New Mexico. Slicker than snot outside. We'll see how it goes.
