Nothing is burning in Ohio??? Here in Wayne County, US-30 is becoming "Deadly 30" as we have had 6 fatalities out there this year. Two have been in my district. There is a 4-lane limited access construction project in progress... so we fear this may get worse.

Well, over the weekend I got to watch as my department ran mutual aid for another shallow water boater rescue. This one was right down the street from my full-time place of employment (or as I like to call it Hell on Earth). They got on the PA and razzed me as they went by....that was nice.

We finished up our fiscal year yesterday. Looks like we will be down about 40 or 50 calls compared to last year.

Default want some fires?....head this way.....

In the last 6 days in the southern part of the county we have had atleast 6 structure fires....including the one ongoing at this minute.

As far as runs go....the department i'm with is 35 over last year in fire calls and 42 over last year in ambulance calls with the whole month of December still to go.

Our year runs from December 1st to November 30th

this year was down about 40 runs

fire runs way down, knock on wood

    Kinda good news/bad news

Some grants you apply for, the more fires, the better.

I guess there is some truth to the statement that when the local economy is better, the # of fires goes down. Go figure.

    Thumbs up

Well, I usually miss all the fire calls but maybe my luck is changing for 2005.

We've had a car fire, a brush fire and a structure fire so far and I made all 3.

The only EMS call I've made was a rollover injury accident where the car rolled down a 30 ft. embankment (minor injuries thanks to a seat belt).

Of course I go back to afternoons today so my streak will be coming to an end

Moe, was the structure fire a chimney fire? I think I was at work that night. Might have been the same night as Jerusalem Twp's fire.........

Our bubble was broken yesterday with 2 kids struck by a car yesterday evening....... BOth were flown by Life flight....... Surprised they actually were flying due to the weather.........

Well, yes, now that you mention it, it was just a chimney fire with no extension but hey it was DISPATCHED as a structure fire LOL. And I believe you guys probably were working because we actually got a Life Squad dispatched to one of our fires for a change.

Speaking of JTFD...is it just me or have they had ALOT of structure fires lately?

And that's a pretty crappy way to get a bubble broken

Actually, we didn't send a LS, because I think it was in the text that it was a chimney fire........

Yes, it was a crappy way, but at least the kids are doing better now. I think they were both upgraded today...... 15 y/o had femur fracture and 17 y/o had pelvis and femur.......
