*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***
LOS ANGELES, CA:
MULTI-PATIENT TRAFFIC COLLISION:
On Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 2024 Hours (8:24 PM PST), seven Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, nine LAFD Rescue Ambulances, four EMS Battalion Captains and one Chief Officer Command team under the direction of 3rd Battalion Commander Michael Arguelles responded to a Multi-Patient Traffic Collision at the intersection of West Manchester Avenue and South Broadway Street in South Los Angeles. Firefighters and Paramedics arrived quickly to discover what witnesses described as a head-on collision between a minivan and a passenger sedan without fire or entrapment. Incident Command, scene safety and traffic control were swiftly established, as Firefighters commenced a brisk yet thorough triage of the eleven patients ranging in age from 2 to 30 years old. Compassionate treatment was rendered on-site to the three males and eight females, whom were mostly in their teens. One toddler and three teenagers in need of Immediate care and seven other patients with lesser injuries were transported to area hospitals. The use of seatbelts and/or supplemental restraint devices could not be immediately determined. Los Angeles Police officials are handling the investigation.
