LOS ANGELES, CA:
GREATER ALARM FUEL SPILL:

On Saturday, January 01, 2005 at 0435 Hours (4:35 AM PST), seven Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, one LAFD Rescue Ambulance, one LAFD Hazardous Materials Squad, an LAFD Foam Tender and LAFD Arson Investigators, all under the direction of 17th Battalion Commander James Gaffney responded to a Greater Alarm Fuel Spill at 22639 West Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills. Summoned by Los Angeles Police Officers investigating a burglary, Firefighters quickly arrived to discover an unknown quantity of gasoline splashed outside and within “Super A Dry Cleaning”. Foam-capable firefighting handlines were deployed and used in dealing with the explosive vapors of the fuel, as Ventura Boulevard was closed to all traffic between Fallbrook and Shoup Avenues as a safety precaution. There was no fire and Firefighters controlled the incident in approximately thirty-minutes. No injuries were reported. Monetary loss to property and contents is estimated at $2,500. LAFD Arson Investigators and Los Angeles Police Department officials are jointly investigating this incident.
