$560 is an inexpensive model! The newest pieces of junk from Motorola that do P-25 digital modulation can easily cost in excess of $3,000. A typical heavy duty conventional portable (no fancy digital crap) complete with charger, mic, etc is usually $800-$1,000.
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

I guess you get what you pay for. Most of newer 800MHz trunked radios go from $3000 and up. The city paid for ours. No way could I afford one.

Why does an individual that only 8 days ago was "looking to volunteer" (according to profile) need a radio anyway?

It's never too early to start building up your Whacker status (just kidding ... until you buy a lightbar too).

My county is trying to get everyone in it to get on their 800mhz system, but will not pay for it. The 3000 dollar price tag is exactly why we haven't yet.

How do you like them anyways?
