Okay, maybe not that old - 34.
Hey gang, Jim here. I've been lurking on this site for a few weeks now and figured it was time to introduce myself. I was recently voted onto my local fire dept. and will be sworn in a couple of weeks from now. Needless to say, I'm thrilled and can't wait to get started. Both my father and father-in-law were vollies so it feels good to carry on the tradition.
“Why did he wait so long?” you ask? Well, I’m not much of a quitter. Also, I tend to be loyal - almost to a fault. I’ve always said that I’d join a dept, only when I felt settled (family, house, job, etc.) enough to devote as much time as I feel this deserves. I have no intention of being “that guy” who only shows up for sunny Saturday calls. Hopefully, my "maturity" will be an advantage.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and thanks in advance for answering all the questions I’m sure to be asking. (Yes, I know about the Search button too!)
