Volunteer firefighter, GOP member dies in accident
SHARPSBURG, Pa. (AP) - Officials are investigating how a pickup
truck driven by a volunteer firefighter ended up on the wrong side
of Route 28 and collided with a bus.
Officials say Frank Scialabba's truck drove north in the
southbound lanes of Route 28, colliding with an empty Allegheny
County Port Authority bus. The bus driver wasn't hurt but Scialabba
died.
Investigators don't think alcohol was involved in the accident.
Scialabba had served the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire
Department for six years. He was a hazardous materials specialist
for Allegheny County Emergency Management and served on O'Hara
Township's planning commission.
