*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***

LOS ANGELES, CA:
GREATER ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE:

On Monday, January 24, 2005, at 2033 hours (8:33 p.m. PST), thirteen companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, one Assistant Chief Officer Command Team, two Battalion Chief Officer Command Teams, one Battalion EMS Supervisor, three LAFD Rescue Ambulances, one LA County Fire Engine, and other Fire Department resources, under the direction of Assistant Chief Tony Varela, responded to a Greater Alarm Structure Fire at 6158 West Deerwood Trail, in the Sunland Tunjunga area. First units on the scene reported a one-story hillside home well involved with fire and spreading rapidly into the adjacent brush. Due to the location of the dwelling on the hillside, access to the structure by Firefighters was limited. Firefighters using handlines aggressively attacked the fire from the exterior and aided by helicopter water drops, knocked down the bulk of the fire and confined it to the structure and a small amount of brush and extinguished the fire in one hour and forty-one minutes. Noticing that the structure was shifting on its foundation to one side, ”Emergency Traffic” tones were sent out to warn fire ground personnel of a possible structure collapse. During fire fighting operations one Firefighter suffered an injured knee and was treated on the scene and release. A seventy-seven year old female occupant received a minor burn to her neck and suffered minor smoke inhalation; a male occupant of the same age suffered minor smoke inhalation, both were treated on the scene and released. No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is listed as under investigation. Fire damage is still being tabulated.

CAROLINAS FIRE PAGE

In honor of all the Firefighters of FDNY, CFP has completed a special project that began more than two years ago.

We have completed and uploaded fire station maps of FDNY, broken down by Division and Battalion.

All fire stations are shown in accurate detail, in most cases to exact street level detail. All front line companies are shown as well as special units. Also included are volunteer companies, Fire Patrol units, FDNY Fire Zone, Boro Comm Offices and the new locations for Boro Commands.

To our knowledge, this information does not exist in this graphic format, on the internet or otherwise.

In addition, we have also prepared a special page entitled "9-11 Incident Log"

This is a timeline of the events of Sept 11, 2001 along with a log of our pages sent out that grim day. Included are "behind the scenes" administrative pages between dispatchers.

Be advised that our new site uses flash graphics extensively, so we recommend you having the latest free flash plug-in from Macromedia. Instructions for obtaining this small software are located on our entry page.
