All my sources are saying it is definitely going to be three hundred. A guy I know that is in the academy right now said they are trying to squeeze more lockers in every spot they can find.

I hope the March class is 300 guys. There's nothing like comradery to get one motivated.

To echo what has been said in other threads, it has been said that the initial physical requirements for the academy are as follows:

1.5 mile run in under 13 minutes (7.0 mph pace for those chained to a treadmill)

    30 pushups in a minute
    30 situps in a minute
    4 pullups

    My advice: get running.

Also stolen from the Dec 2004 thread:

Some advice for the 1st day:

    1. Bring a pen and pencil,
    2. Wear a suit
    3. Shave
    4. Have your hair short, but not TOO short
    5. DONT WALK ON THE SIDEWALK!!!!!

Hope to see 299 of you guys there in March.

Does anyone know how and when they do rejection letters! Do they send them out right away or do you get it when your list number is called?

Good question, but I don't think they give out rejection letters right before the class start. I think that if you messed up somewhere along the testing/screening phases, then you know immediately. The only way I can see a candidate being rejected at this stage is if he/she does something foolish, like getting caught with misleading paperwork, getting arrested...that sort of thing. If you've passed everything up until this point and have remained clean and honest, then you should have no trouble.

    GL brothers-
Hope this March class starts as scheduled!!!

Hi There.I have a question to those who are in the "rock" now or recently graduated. Recent tragic deaths of two firefighters in the bronx proved necessity of having personal escape equipment(rope etc..)I believe that FDNY stoped issuing ropes to firefighters in 2000.However,are they training probies in escaping from high floors(3-5fl)without an assist of another firefighter.I have seen training with assistance of another firefighter last time i have been to th "rock" in summer 2003.If it isnt part of the training i think it would be a good idea to learn it by yourself with some help of someone who nows how it is done ex rockclimbers.

ps: i hope they will call me sometimes at the end of this year.

Fro, Do you know how they do rejection letters? Do they send them out when your list number is called or do you find out as soon as the investigator finds something wrong? Just wondering.
