Do those of you out there that have TIC's with transmitting capability really use it on the fire ground?
Our department bought a bullard MX with all the bells and whisltes and spent quite a bit of $$$$. In my opinion it would have been better to buy 2 or 3 MSA 5000's with out the telemetry so that we could have more crews with this valuable tool to use if needed. As it stands, if you want/ need to use it you need to track it down somewhere on the scene if it is currently in use.....
Does anyone know if you can get trade in credit from MSA if you wanted to switch cameras?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks all, and stay safe!!!!

Not for nothing, but why trade the Bullard for MSA's? Why not trade the Bullard for Bullards without the transmit stuff? Seems like that would be a much more realistic option."This thread is being closed as it is off-topic and not related to the fire industry." - Isn't that what the Off Duty forum was for?

I believe that the MSA's are cheeper, plus we like the form factor of those TIC's as opposed to the other bullards.
Just personal preference I guess.

Look at the Bullard T3 series. Nice, small, and reasonably priced.

scottab96, I like the MSA's better also, just received our third. But I figured since you already have the Bullards, changing their style might be a little easier.
good luck."This thread is being closed as it is off-topic and not related to the fire industry." - Isn't that what the Off Duty forum was for?

We have a Cairns Viper with the transmitter. We do not use the transmitter very often on the firegroud. We do use it a lot for SCBA and other "dark" training. We also use it for fire prevention demonstrations and school groups. I'm glad we have it...but we could have done with out it. If we were making the purchase again, I would still try to find the funds for the transmitter/receiver as I believe it does provide benefit to the department.BB

If the TIC is used, the TV and DVD Recorder are on. Any time it's used, at all.Originally Posted by ThNozzleMan
