    Does anyone know how the term "Kelly Day" originated?

    Question I Dunno........................

    There isn't much fun in digging up old threads, when you can take a new one and mess it up. So, that said, here's my theory: Kelly days are named for Firefighter Kelly, in recognition of the days he called in sick after imbibing in too much Guiness the night before.

    And now here in Chicago they call it a Daley Day...every 5th workday (12 calendar days) is off.
