    Default One thing.

All this talk about what's in your pockets...
If you could only carry one thing (aside from your PPE and assigned firefighting tools) what would you bring?

    Hmmmm. Good question.

I think I would carry a pair of ironworkers pliers. I have read about firefighters that became hopelessly entangled in a mess of wires and cables and died, still in the metal web of death. if I died and could of saved myself, or a brother with a simple pair of cutters I would be mad at myself forever.

Ironicly I don't carry any now, but I'm at the accadamy still and its' not an issue. I will be carrying a pair obnce I'm on the job though.

My dream and I hope you don't find this too crazy is that I would like the people of this community to feel that if, God forbid, there were a fire, calling the fire department would actually be a wise thing to do. You can't have people, if their houses are burning down, saying, 'Whatever you do, don't call the fire department!' That would be bad."

Here too...Hmmmm, well then I guess, hmmmm...I give up, I would never have just one thing

But if I HAD to pick just one, Im with Lammrover, give me some wire cutters. Do you all recall the 4 (I think) FF's from, was it Memphis(?) a while back that died in an aparment building fire? I think thats what happened to them, a bunch of cables, wires, phone lines dropped form the cieling and the got all tangled in it
