I am the Hazmat coordinator for my County in Virginia and I am looking for input about how to get a Operations level response team established for my county. Also post if you think an operations level team would be worth the headache to get established. I am open to any input and I thank you in advance. Thanks
Seth

Do your firefighters have hazmat operations certification?

In my opinion I think that all your firefighters should be trained to at least operations level. In my area you get that with FF 1 training. It gives you just enough knowledge to keep out of trouble. I don't think you really need to have an operations level team though. Who do you call now? probably just continue to have a mutual aide company come do it and just perform defensive operations until help comes.

Yea it is just a mixture of different companies. The thing I am running into is that everyone doesn't have hazmat ops they have hazmat awareness which is the only requirement for FF1. That is in Virginia.
