The letter from OSFM was only a survey to see who was doing what. It isn't forcing you to do inspections since you, like most of us, don't have the people, time or money to do this. Technically, fire departments are supposed to do inspections. We were told that OSFM is trying to put something together to show how bad the problem with is. Knowing the Fire Marshall, we'll be treated fairly and not be forced into something that just isn't practical.
If you go to the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts web site you should be able to find a letter that outlines what the survey was all about.
If you just got a letter, this is about the third try for them to contact you. Something happened to the first ones.Jack Boczek, Chief
